WhatsApp will Start Showing Ads in its Status Feature

WhatsApp will Start Showing Ads in its Status Feature

WhatsApp has broadcast that it's showing ads in its Status feature.

A senior executive of the Facebook-owned messaging service told New Delhi media on Wednesday that ads are coming, according to India's Economic Times.
That is going to be primary monetization mode for the company as well as an opportunity for businesses to reach people on WhatsApp," Chris Daniels, WhatsApp vice president, said to reporters.
Status lets you post photos, videos, and GIFs that disappear after 24 hours.

However, this will commence in the year 2019. Charlie Daniels hasn’t given a specific date on when this feature would commence but WhatsApp highlighted in previous reports that they'll come in 2019.

This is not the first time we've heard about ads on WhatsApp. Facebook is eager for the messaging service, which it acquired for $19 billion in 2014, to start making money. WhatsApp said in August that businesses will be able to do things like provide real-time customer service and send information like boarding passes or shipping confirmations.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s goal to monetize WhatsApp has forced the social media messaging service’s co-founders to leave the company reports Economic Times.

On of the app’s co-founders, Brian Acton told Forbes that the move would undermine elements of Whatsapp’s encryption technology and that Zuckerberg was in a rush to make money from the app after purchasing it for $19 billion four years ago.

In conclusion, in early-2019, WhatsApp will start showing ads (possibly targeted ads) in the application’s ‘status’ section.

MTN Giving 200% Data Bonus To Subscribers - How To Be Eligible

MTN Giving 200% Data Bonus To Subscribers - How To Be Eligible

Ever since Ntel started acting like they're having partial mental health issues I decided to switch back to MTN and guess what?
MTN data zaps faster than water from a broken bucket, the way it finishes I wonder if someone else is using my data with me.
All the same I still keep using it because it's fast and also because there's a solution for the data zapping since I can't get my 12gb for N1000 on Ntel for now.

MTN is offering 200% Data Bonus if you subscribe to any data plan. This means  you'll get 3GB instead of 1.5B for N1000.
However there's a catch to it you - must have a phone with 4G for you to get the bonus. So what happens to those with just 3G.
I have a solution for you, I've tested it and it's working. 2 of my smartphones have 4G so all I do is put the SIM of the phone with 3G in the 4G phone, browse for a few minutes then remove it and put it back in the phone.
So you can find a friend with a 4G enabled device, subscribe, browse for about 5 minutes, then put your SIM back in your phone.
To subscribe dial *131*4#

Windows10 October 2018 Update is Now Available, Comes with Loads of Amazing Features

Windows10 October 2018 Update is Now Available, Comes with Loads of Amazing Features

Microsoft has announced that the Windows 10 October 2018 update is now available. The company made the announcement yesterday 2nd of October, at a small press event in New York, though it’s obviously no surprise that Microsoft decided to roll out the October update in the month that gave it its name.

The new update is the sixth major update to come to the OS, following the November Update, Anniversary Update, Creators Update, Fall Creators Update, and the April 2018 Update.

The latest version of Microsoft’s global operating system comes with loads of new features, including your phone app, a new snipping experience, a dark theme for File Explorer, a cloud-powered clipboard, and new web sign-in and fast sign-in.

The most interesting of these is probably the new “Your Phone” app, which allows you to text from your PC using an Android phone that also runs Microsoft’s mobile companion app. In later iterations, that app will also sync notifications to your desktop, but for now, that’s not an option. There also are tools for continuing your workflow as you switch from your phone to PC (or vice versa). These features work for iOS users, too.
As far as syncing between devices goes, it’s worth noting that the update also will allow you to share your clipboard between PCs.

Since everybody likes a dark mode these days, the Windows 10 File Explorer now also includes a dark theme. There’s also a revamped search experience, as well as a new screenshot tool.

While the release includes plenty of other tweaks, both in terms of functionality and design, the most anticipated feature, Sets, didn’t make it into this release. Sets are probably the biggest change to the overall Windows user experience since the release of Windows 10, so maybe it’s no surprise that Microsoft is trying to perfect this. And perfection takes a while.

The Windows 10 October 2018 Update will be rolling out through Windows Update next Tuesday. Until then it’s available through direct download. You might be lucky and be offered the update if you manually trigger Windows Update this week.

DStv To End its Mobile TV service

DStv To End its Mobile TV service

DStv ending its Mobile TV service
MultiChoice - DStv has announced that its DStv Mobile service will end on 31 October 2018.

DStv Mobile TV launched in 2010 and used DVB-H technology, allowing users to access DStv on their phone, laptop, or tablet via a Drifta mobile decoder.

The decoder received a DVB-H signal and converted it into a Wi-Fi signal for smart devices to access.

The company said it’s not feasible to continue to maintain a separate land-based, dedicated network for this service alone, when an even better service can be offered to our customers on DStv Now via the internet and WiFi.

DStv ending its Mobile TV service
“While the DStv Mobile service will stop completely on 31 October 2018, we’re starting to switch off some of our transmitters already.

As this might impact the reception of some of our customers, we are no longer billing for our DStv Mobile service from 1 September 2018,” the company said.

“We’ll also cancel any Decoder Insurance against DStv Mobile devices.”

The company said it has recycling bins available at its branches in Randburg, Durban and Cape Town where customers can drop off their mobile device to recycle.

"You can also drop it off at any of our DStv agencies or recycle it through your local recycling centre,” said the company.

Kindly Share.

Instagram Co-founders Resign From Company

Instagram Co-founders Resign From Company

The Co-founders of  Most popular photo-sharing platform Instagram, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger have resigned from the company, the New York Times reported late Monday citing unnamed sources.
JagohTech.com gathered that Systrom and Krieger have resigned from their posts as chief executive and chief technology officer respectively, not giving reasons and saying they planned to take time off.
But Facebook did not respond to a request for comment, according to AFP.
Instagram in June announced it passed a billion active users, and unveiled a new long-form video feature in a bid to attract “creators” like those on YouTube.
It became the fourth Facebook platform to eclipse the billion-user mark, including the namesake social network with more than two billion users, and the messaging Applications WhatsApp and Messenger.
Facebook acquired Instagram in April 2012 for a combination of cash and stock worth some $1 billion at the time.
Instagram has been a hit with young internet users, an audience that Facebook is keen to keep in its fold.
The departures come as Facebook grapples with the worst crisis in its history, vilified for not more zealously guarding information users share at the leading online social network.
Earlier this year, WhatsApp co-founder Jan Koum left Facebook, which bought the smartphone messaging service for $19 billion.
Koum said in a post on his Facebook page that he was taking time off to pursue interests such as collecting air-cooled Porsches, working on cars and playing ultimate Frisbee.
US media reports indicated that a disagreement with Facebook over the privacy of user data may have also been a factor in Koum’s decision to quit his position as a high-ranking executive and likely leave his seat on the board at the leading online social network
